L'evento tragico della conquista ottomana di Costantinopoli del 29 maggio 1453 è rivisitato nel ricordo del sacrificio del basileus Costantino XI che diede prova di coraggio e abnegazione per la sua città e per tutta la cristianità.

L'assedio di Costantinopoli: Costantinopoli, la città d'oro, è assediata dal sultano turco Murad II che vuole conquistare la città per impossessarsi dell'emporio commerciale a cui affluiscono tutte le merci del mondo. Gli Ottomani hanno già preso tutti i territori dell'Impero romano d'Oriente e mancano soltanto alcune città come Costantinopoli, Tessalonica e Mistrà nella Morea. L'autore racconta in forma di dialogo l'agonia di Bisanzio dove molti diventano poveri e devono servire nelle dimore degli aristocratici che beneficiano delle concessioni imperiali e gestiscono gli immobili dati in affitto ai mercanti stranieri. Gli artigiani chiudono le loro botteghe perché in città non affluiscono più le materie prime necessarie per le manifatture. Le repubbliche marinare di Venezia e Genova controllano tutto il traffico commerciale e gestiscono i banchi che elargiscono monete auree e d'argento servendosi anche di carte di cambio per la cessione delle finanze necessarie per le compravendite dei beni.

The Ottomans have already taken all the territories of the Roman Empire of the East and only a few cities are missing such as Constantinople, Thessaloniki and Mistrà in the Morea. The author recounts in the form of dialogue the agony of Byzantium where many become poor and must serve in the mansions of aristocrats who benefit from imperial concessions and manage the properties rented to foreign merchants. The artisans close their shops because the necessary raw materials for manufacturers no longer flow into the city. The maritime republics of Venice and Genoa control all commercial traffic and operate the banks that emit gold and silver coins, also using exchange cards for the divestment of the finances necessary for the sale of goods.

Pasqua
Pasqua è risurrezione ed è un nuovo modo di vedere il mondo che ci circonda, fatto di persone che vogliono interagire per una "vita buona". Pasqua è apertura per un orizzonte migliore per la cittadinanza, desiderosa di scegliere uomini e donne capaci e competenti che si impegnano per tutti gli altri. Soltanto coloro che permettono la coesistenza e il dialogo delle persone creano una comunità civile che si conserva nel tempo, perché lottano per la giustizia, l’amicizia civica e la fede nell’essere umano che sono la forza che la fa vivere. Pasqua è credere in una società dove il bene comune può riversarsi su tutti in modo che ogni uomo o donna possa sentirsi utile per sé e gli altri. Buona Pasqua!

Sorriso
Come sarà questo restante tempo
se tu hai superato i settanta?
Certo che vita non è passatempo
e altra visione non ti incanta
quando amor non cade anzitempo
e tuo gesto attenzione agguanta
con il suo sorriso riconoscente
per momento dato concretamente.
Non volgere lo sguardo al passato,
il tuo presente doni ad amata
come tuo volere è addestrato
e la sua attesa è appagata
vedendo nello sguardo ammirato
la cercata dolcezza confermata
che sempre alle membra dà vigore
riattivando giovanile ardore.
Il tuo passo è reso più sicuro
e la tua esistenza non vacilla
quando guardi il lontano futuro
ché preoccupazione non assilla
il promettente prossimo venturo
se tuo presente è nuova scintilla
per accendere una nuova fiamma,
nota dolce scritta su pentagramma.
Ancora nel presente si rinnova
la visione del suo viso felice
che anche ora mi dice: riprova
come a vero uomo si addice.
